Last week I shared a mood board with you all and today I'm excited to finally reveal my updated living room!  Simple changes truly go a long way when it comes to refreshing a space as the seasons change.  With the temps warming up, I wanted to give my living room a brighter feel and my partnership with Birch Lane made it happen!  Here are a few tips that are sure to brighten up any space.

Pillows and throw blankets

A sure way to change things up quickly are swapping out your pillow covers and/or adding new pillows to the mix.  Pillow covers are a great way to save both money and space as you can keep your existing pillows and change the covers as the seasons change.  Layering the pillows under a throw blanket gives an even more cozier feel.  I love the lumbar pillow (see link below) from Birch lane that I used to complement the solid, square throw pillows.  The yellow is a perfect shade and not so overwhelming.  Adds a nice, bright touch that speaks summer!

Plants

Greenery is my favorite way to add life to any living space.  The options with house plants are endless, and whether real of faux, you really cannot go wrong.  I personally love faux as the maintenance and upkeep is so much simpler.  For my refresh, I went with Birch Lane's palm leaf planter (see link below)  It complements the yellow and cream tones in my living room so nicely and really do bring on those summer vibes!

Storage/Décor Straw Baskets

One of my favorite decor pieces to add are storage baskets.  They have so many uses and come in very handy for hiding the many kids toys I usually have laying around.  If you're a parent or pet owner you can probably relate.  These tea-stained baskets from Birch Lane are gorgeous (see link below)!  I absolutely love the natural color.  They came in a set of 3, all different sizes.  I used a couple of them as plant holders, and another is currently hiding the many things we have laying around the house.  You can't tell from this picture, but I have tons of items in the large storage basket that's sitting on the book shelf!  Storage baskets are functional and aesthetically pleasing at the same time, and a great way to decorate corners.
