I live in an area where there are so many pine trees and cones. One morning during my walk, I got several ideas of how to use the cones so I decided to pick a bunch and get creative by making my own Christmas wreath! I prepped the cones, by washing them in vinegar and baking soda since I did get them outdoors. If you haven't handled pine cones before, they have a very sticky sap and so after washing them, I placed them in a 200 degree oven for about an hour which helped to melt the sap.
The cones are now ready to be used in all kinds of ways. For my wreath, I painted the cones with white paint and then used a glitter snow to coat the pine cones giving them a flocked look. Using twist ties, I secured each cone (about 4 of them) to my wreath. Michael's is a great place to get all kinds of decorative picks for your wreath. What do you think of the final product?
